Christina Avolio
I was the first of the Avolio family to attend St. Philomena. You may know my sister, Anne Michelle, or my brother, Thomas, as well. My mother, Barbara, is currently teaching at another Catholic school. I graduated from the eighth grade at St. Phil's in 1993. After that, I attended Kennedy High School where I became involved with the choir, the color guard, the KEY club, the basketball team and graduated as the 1997 class valedictorian.
I graduated from Seattle University where I completed a minor in mathematics, a B.A. in Humanities, and a B.S. in Civil/Environmental engineering. While at Seattle University, I found some wonderful internships that relate to environmental engineering. In 1999, I assisted one of my professors with her research on toxic cyanobacteria (or blue-green algae) in Lake Sammamish. Now, I'm working for the Seattle Public Utilitie's Creek Monitoring Team and you can read about our work here. Aside from academics and working, I keep busy singing with the Seattle University Choir, tutoring at local elementary schools, mentoring underclassmen, taking kick-boxing classes, and serving as an officer for various clubs such as SWE (Society of Women Engineers), Tau Beta Pi, and the Bannon Scholars. I enjoyed my experience at Seattle University. You can still find me attending weekend masses at St. Phil's. I hope to talk to some of you there!
